Sofias Bar and pool area may certainly be described as one of the most relaxing and enjoyable places in the Resort of Kalamaki as it offers a combination of pleasant activities that will make your vacation complete.
The Sofias Hotel Complex is located in the heart of
Kalamaki, a family-friendly resort, but also very close to other
well-known tourist resorts. All amenities are close at hands such as ATM
machines, pharmacy, doctor’s office, taxi rank, shops, restaurants and
much more. The famous beautiful sandy beach of Kalamaki being no longer
than a 10-minute walk away (approximately 700 meters), is certainly a
great asset too. Zakynthos town and the port are only 5km away and the
airport of Dionisios Solomos is just 3km away. This makes Sofias an
ideal place to start exploring the whole of the island.
Zakynthos
Zakynthos is the third largest of the Ionian Islands also known as
\"Fiore di levante\" which means flower of the East, a name given to it
by the Venetian conquerors many years ago.
It also has a few smaller islands of its own like Marathonisi, Pelouzo
and Agios Sostis (Cameo) in the gulf of Laganas and Kalamaki.
The numerous beautiful beaches like \"Shipwreck\", Daphne, Gerakas,
Keri, Alykes and Kalamaki attract many visitors every year from all
around the world and are also renowned because they are the nesting area
for the endangered Loggerhead Sea Turtle Caretta Caretta. The National
Marine Park does everything it can to ensure its protection.
The town of Zakynthos has many coffee shops and traditional tavernas in
the squares or alongside the port where you can relax while enjoying the
view. Bohali, otherwise known as \"the balcony of Zakynthos\", offers a
spectacular view of the town, especially when it is all lit up in the
evening.
There are many traditional mountain villages that produce honey,
homemade cheese, yogurt and embroideries you can explore and discover on
your own or on a bus tour.
Couples, families with children and groups of friends can all find
something to suit their needs in this amazing and favoured by many
destinations.
How to get here
Sofias Hotel complex is very easy to access either by air or land.
Zakynthos is lucky enough to have its own airport which is a five-minute
drive from the accommodation. The cost of a taxi to deliver you from
the airport to the hotel door is approximately 10 euro.
Flights arrive from all over European destinations with daily chartered
airlines and there is also a daily flight to and from Athens.
Zakynthos airport has cafes and bar facilities to provide food and
refreshment. There are also Duty-Free shops to meet all your shopping
requirements.
If you choose not to fly, getting to Zakynthos is just as easy. There is
a comprehensive ferry service from Kyllini (in the mainland) to
Zakynthos port with ferries departing from Kyllini from 5.30 am {high
season) until 9.30 pm. This ferry trip takes just over an hour. So if
you are travelling from Athens by car this drive should not take you
more than 4 hours (300km).
Again, the travel distance from the port to our complex is only five minutes.
Finally, there is also a ferry service from different ports in Italy
which will take you to Patras (mainland) and from here it is a 45-minute
drive to Kyllini for the onward ferry trip to the island.
So wherever you are travelling from and whatever means of transport you need getting to Zakynthos is easy.
